Dr. Bregman Testimonial

"I have been watching my bunion progress since I was in my early teens. Of course it wasn't until I got to Podiatry school that I learned the reasons for the pain in my feet, legs and low back. I watched myself go from a foot with an arch to one that was totally pronated at the age of 48. I have been waiting for the "best time" to have the left foot surgery. I started to develop other complaints secondary to the abnormal pronation. The hallux was becoming more rotated and the first MPJ was even more dislocated. The second hammertoe became more painful and I developed a very painful metatarsal cuneiform exostosis. I continued to have a lot of medial knee pain, left hip and low back pain.

As we learned in podiatry school; bunion deformities can reoccur if you do not control the abnormal pronatory forces that are part of the mechanical problem to begin with. After attending CME lectures and reading in my podiatry journals I came across the STJ sinus tarsi implants and came to the conclusion that this would be the way to prevent the reoccurrence of the bunion after having surgical correction of the deformity. I approach Larry Zonis about doing my surgery for me and told him I thought I would really benefit from the implant.

Currently I am 10 weeks post op and I am very pleased with the results of the implant. I was able to detect relief from my knee, hip and back pain after I was out of the walking cast. I was in the cast for 4 weeks. Of course the soft tissue is irritated from being in its new position; where it should have been normally. I can tell a definite improvement in my posture in addition to the pain relief. One of my neighbors told me I looked taller. I have a neuromuscular massage therapist/physical therapist who treats me for my fibromyalgia. He has noticed a change in the muscles in the low back, hips, etc. He has been helping me with the tendons and muscles of my left lower leg and foot. The ankle is still sore at the lateral aspect and this is normal considering all the changes that are occurring. At this time I can wear my tennis shoes, hiking boots, Roping boots and Aerosoles ( Mary Jane Style). My walking is improving and I have been back in the saddle riding my horses.

I am looking forward to continued improvement as my body adjusts to its corrected position." --- B.C., Arizona

"In addition to correcting problems with my feet, the surgery has helped to properly align my knees and lower back.  As a result, my walking '7 days a week' has become a great deal more comfortable...and more enjoyable."T.L., Clinton Township, MI

"I'm very happy with my Subtalar implant, my foot could not feel better...a year since the operation and I could not be happier.  The leg became straighter, and the toes also."―M.L.,

West Bloomfield, MI

"This fifteen minute procedure may change ones life forever."―Dr. R.C., DPM, Toronto, Canada

“Back to work…on my feet eight hours, five days a week.  I have no pain now and very little pain after surgery.  Now I get to wear those cute shoes that wouldn’t work before.  My age is 69 years and loving it!”—S.T., Clinton Township, MI

“I have had many successes with the HyProCure Implant.  A long time patient of mine (who is in her 70’s) was slated for a total knee replacement, not because of arthritis, but a malalignment problem which had caused her knee pain.  After the [procedure] was performed, her knee pain was absolved and the knee surgery was cancelled!”—Dr. J.B., DPM, Charleston, IL

“I am very happy with the implants—my back [pain] and hip ache are gone.  I feel more energetic and alive!”—S. W., Clinton Township, MI

“I have had pain in my feet for the majority of the 76 years of my life.  I recently had the [sinus tarsi surgery] and am walking normal for the first time in my life!  I was up and walking without pain the very next day.  Only a small bandage was needed for the incision and I could put my shoes on without any difficulty.  Even the circulation caused by the peripheral neuropathy is improving every day and I do not have cold feet now!  I wish I had known about this procedure years ago.  Being able to walk normally without pain is a blessing.”—D.S., Warren, MI

“The surgery has improved my balance to normal.  Marvelous!  No doubt this will improve my golf game.”—P.L., Troy, MI

“At the time of my diagnosis I agreed that [the] sinus tarsi implant procedure was necessary to resume a normal athletic lifestyle.  I am now able to run again, I can do a mile in eight minutes.  I foresee being able to run 3-5 miles…something that would not have been possible without getting the implants.”—A.C., Detroit, MI

“Overall I am very pleased with the sinus tarsi [stent].  My patients are very, very pleased with the procedure.”—Dr. R.H., DPM, McCook, NE

“I think my feet have benefited tremendously from the implants.  Before the surgery my x-rays showed both feet turned outward.  After the surgery my x-rays showed my feet perfectly straight.  What a difference!  Thanks a million…you’re way ahead of your time!”—G.W., Chesterfield, MI

“The implant procedure was the next best thing to a God given miracle.  Pain in my left leg…continued to get progressively worse until I was limping so severely that I could not walk normal distances, fly on a commercial airline, or drive/ride in a car for any extended period of time.  I had the surgery…and now I have none of the pain that was hampering me from enjoying my daily activities.”—J.H.B., Sr., New Baltimore, MI

“I am now standing tall!  My legs are straight without the pain in my knees that I lived with my whole life.  I never dreamed it possible that the pain I also endured to my feet, toes, and back would ever go away.  I no longer need to visit the physical therapist or chiropractor…what a difference this minimally invasive surgery makes!  And I can wear all the latest shoe fashions.  Most impressed…”—S.B., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI

“You gave back to me a quality of life that I thought was gone forever.  After consulting three other foot specialists, I was left with a brace and a handicap sticker.  I was told that my particular problem was permanent, and that I should just accept that.  After two years of suffering, I came into your office and my life was changed forever.  [Now] I cannot stay in one place for long…I am always moving!  People who see me for the first time after the surgery can’t believe what they see.  I can walk long distances…and I can still keep up with my husband on the dance floor!  Even my daughter wants to rest in the mall before I do.  I can’t thank you enough for what you did for me.  I truly am blessed to be walking normally again.  Thank you…”—S.C., Pontiac, MI
