Walking is one of the simplest and safest aerobic exercises you can do. It will help you strengthen your bones, control your weight, and condition your heart and lungs. Being consistent in your walking routine is one of the most important factors in developing a healthy physical activity program. Research has shown that people who walk approximately 20-25 miles per week outlive those who don’t walk by several years. Walking can help control your appetite, increases your energy, help relieve stress, slow aging, help control and prevent diabetes, and so much more.

But what about those who cannot walk because it’s too painful?

When you stand on feet that are misaligned, it causes a chain reaction of misalignment through the body. Your body is then forced to compensate by putting excessive strain on your ankles, knees, hips, and back. The number one thing we are constantly told is to get out there and exercise, increase our metabolisms. When you have misaligned feet, it hurts when you walk, so you stop walking. When you stop walking your metabolism decreases, you gain weight. Then you become diabetic, you get high blood pressure, then you get coronary artery disease, the list goes on and on. Often times we forget about the psychological aspects of not being able to exercise, not being able to go for a walk with your spouse, play with your children or grandchildren because it hurts too much, or when you’re a child and you want to run as fast and as hard as you can, but no matter how hard you try you always come in last because your feet are misaligned; your leg muscles are working so hard that you just can’t run any faster. Simple things in life like going for a walk and playing with children are often times taken for granted, unless you are the one in pain.Life doesn’t have to be lived from the sidelines!
